The young beech trees take on a brighter color than the surrounding trees and keep those colors longer. long after the other leaves have dropped. These trees keep their leaves, in protected areas, until the spring, the leaves turning a creamy parchment color visible through the winter forest. The older beach trees drop their leaves like all the other trees do.
