A female Blackbuck leaps in the air one winter morning at Tal Chapar (Rajasthan, India). This antelope is India's fastest land animal and can clock speeds as high as 80 km/hr (50 miles/hr). The stot (or high jumps in the midst of running) are supposed to be signals to the predator about how healthy the animal is. It doesn't make sense for a predator to expend energy on prey that tires it out completely.
