While photographing the Northern Shoveler last weekend, with friends Dan Cadieux and Wayne Wood, a handsome, mature Bald Eagle flew over us. The ducks got startled momentarily but the eagle continued on and they settled down quickly. Bald Eagles are being seen more and more frequently in the region over the past few years after decades of absence due to man's use of DDT. At leat one pair has successfully nested in Ottawa for the past couple of years. This is a big crop but I think that it stood up well.
