Flame Colored Tanager Male

Interesting Factoid:The Flame-colored Tanager (Piranga bidentata), formerly known as the Stripe-backed Tanager, is a medium-sized American songbird. Formerly placed in the tanager family (Thraupidae), it and other members of its genus are now classified in the cardinal family (Cardinalidae).[2] The species's plumage and vocalizations are similar to other members of the cardinal family. On our recent Photography Workshop we found this Beauty in a lite drizzle high up in the Costa Rica Mountain ranges.. Perhaps one of my favorite tanagers. Have you ever stopped to marvel at how many beautiful tanagers there are?? Click on image to darken canvas.
